Losing patience in Kristianopel
Bad weather prevents me from going further… as a result, I have to wait for a few days here until a new window of opportunity for sailing opens.
First day, let's stroll around and see
Since the weather forecast was not good, I thought I would stay here in Kristianopel and explore this nice little village. I crossed a German couple I'd met in Borgholm already, and they are in the same boat (pun intended): they are waiting for the foul weather to pass before continuing South. It was quite enjoyable to relax in this village though, a pleasant little walk, a lot of guitar and harmonica on deck, …
The view in the morning.
Not sure that this is an accurate historic piece...
Nice view though
Not quite ripped yet but that would make a delicious juice...
Second day, let's do a laundry
Well, looks like no sailing would occur on that day either. So instead, I cleaned my clothes, went for another walk, did some cooking, etc. But then the weather got worse, and I took sheltered in the boat to write-up on this logbook and try to catch up a bit.
Cows enjoying the marches.
I'm no expert but… if it rains horizontally, it's not a nice weather.
Third day, let's go for a run and play with a band
I was definitely restless by that point, so I thought let's go running while there is no rain for now (that destroyed me, I was sore for days after that run).
But before running, let's send a message to the band that was playing in the harbour the night before and that was scheduled to play again on this evening. I told them I'd heard them from afar and that I was wondering if they wanted some harmonica with their songs. To my big surprised they said “yes sure, just come at 20:00 we'll make some balance with you, and then you can join in for a bit”. The “a bit” part lasted all night ! It was quite fun, a lot out of my usual blues-playing-ground and a lot more of country/folky things. It was good, I needed to train playing in a different scale too. I got to do a few solos and had a real good time.
For most of the running loop, it was an alternation of cows in woodlands and cereal fields.
Of course, it was all quiet in the afternoon… No regrets however as it was still quite windy overnight. Mostly calm with big gusts of wind that lasted some minutes each time.
Since Västervik, I've been seeing a lot of these little jellyfish. I've been told they are inoffensive, but I still don't really want to swim with them.
Fourth day, should I say or should I go?
In the morning, I hesitated to leave in the late afternoon to sail overnight to Bornholm or Christiansø. Eventually I decided against it and to instead leave early on Monday. So, to help to get on early in the morning, I tried to prepare all I could do in the afternoon/evening, so I would mostly only have to start the engine and cast off.
