Leaving Kalmar and making my way in the strait against the wind. Lots of manoeuvering, but a good speed

This day was a lot of manual work: the wind strengh was quite varried so on top of taking often to zigzag my way against it, I also had to take and shake reefs more often than I'd care for. That being said, it was a good day! Nice weather, decent speed, good distance and my repaired handle worked! It is quite nice to have this extra few decimeters to be able to stand upright on the top of the cockpit side when the boat is heeling.

Bye bye Kalmar!

Going good!

taking a reef: (0:00) ease the main sail and the genoa while getting into close-reach ; (0:30) clear the haillard and ease the main sail completely ; (0:40) release the cunningham ; (0:50) let go progressively of the haillard while pulling on the reefing point (usually not that slow) ; (1:40) take back the haillard to tighten the sail in place and clean stuff up; (2:10) step forward to change the cunningham point to the appropriate reef and fasten the reef lines ; (3:40) tighten the cunningham, haul the mainsail sheet again ; (4:00) get back to close-hauled and trim the sails accordingly.

And back as it was.

tacking (turning the corner on one of the zigzags)

Shaking the reef: (0:00) wait for the good song and put the autohelm ; (0:20) get to close-reach and trim the sails ; (0:30) ease the main sail and release the cunningham ; (1:00) realised that you obviously did not ease the main sail enough, so come back to the cockpit and do that ; (1:15) go back to the mast and release the reef lines ; (1:30) back to the cockpit and ease of the reefing point, haul the mainsail halyard ; (2:10) sometimes the reef point line needs a bit of help to ease off properly ; (2:40) trim the mainsail, get back to close-hauled and trim the sails again ; (3:25) clean up the halyard and the cockpit and voila !

Motoring for the last small bit to Kristianopel

A nice little harbour.
