Day 2

Nature anchorage (at last too)

41.4 NM
06:53
6.0 kts (avg)
9.4 kts (max)

Full steam ahead, or well full surf ahead! Quite a speedy day concluded by meeting a friend and anchoring like a Swed at last

I left Fifång around 11 o'clock, struggled a bit to hoist the main sail with a reef in (it was quite windy still and the waves weren't helping the manoeuvre), and then it was almost a straight descent with the coast on starboard, full speed, a bit of surf at times. I spent the entire navigation between close-reached and broad-reached. The speed was quite exhilarating! It was a bit rocky at times when the waves were right on the beam, but it was still quite fun!

I covered 41.4 NM in a bit less than 7 hours. Not a bad day 😅.

I met up with a sailing friend from Austria on a small island to take a lesson in nature anchoring, play some music, exchanges tips and places to go, etc. She's quite the seasoned sailor despite her young age, and she quite convinced me to try night sailing at some point. I'd already talked about that with Mike and Ina (previous owners of Elvira) when I met them this year at GBK, but it really sounds like a nice thing to try.

Speedy sailor, happy sailor

focused sailor though, the auto-helm wasn't quite able to take those waves

Yoooweeh!

Yoowheeh again

A lot of genoa trimming to make the most of this wind

Not a bad view from the anchoring, he?
