After a short motoring to get out of Stugvik, I was able to sail all the way to Västervik. A lot of reefing, unreefing, but good speed and quite fun.

In the morning, I was a bit knackered but finally managed to get underway around 8:30, spent half an hour on engine to reach a spot where I could hoist sails. I had planned to reach a harbour near Västervik and go to a shop to get my own set of rock-cleats. And for once, I managed to follow my plan! Now, I can anchor on my own to a rock, like I did with my friend 2 days ago.

That's a great thing about having a bike in the boat, it's so much faster to get around once on land. So after the boat-accessory shop, I went around to the city centre, cycled aimlessly around for a bit, got a few more supplies for the boat and cycled back.

I was hoping the northerly wind would be here for me in the morning, but when I got back to Elvira and checked the forecast it was now saying something different. On top of that, I ran out of gas for my kitchen, so instead of leaving early the next day, I made plans to motor to Västervik's town centre and replace my bottle there.

The entire day was mostly on the same tack, going from reaching to close-hauled as the wind and route veered a bit.

A funny lighthouse with a house on a tiny island.

Making good speed

It's always fun to watch the water pass by like that.
